“Classic Tween”

A “Classic tween” is a tween as it were, created in earlier versions of “Flash”.

To use this tween, you need a starting “Keyframe” and ending “Key Frame”.

To add a “Classic tween”, right-click the starting “Key Frame” and select “Create Classic Tween” in the drop-down menu.

The layer on which a “Classic Tween” is applied will have a purple background color and will contain a black arrow.

In a “Classic Tween”, we do not have the availability of the “Motion editor”.
There are only limited options for the tween which can be set in the “Properties window”.

“Motion Presets”

In “Flash” we have a number of animations that we find under the “Motion Presets” window.

These animations can be added to “Movie clip symbols”.

Click the “Window” in the menu bar and select “Motion Preset” in the drop-down menu.

Guess which window this opens? That’s correct, “Motion Presets.”
Here we have two folders.
A “Default Presets” folder with 32 preset animations and a “Custom Presets” folder where we can save our own animation.

If you want to add a standard preset to the symbol in the timeline, you first select this icon, click the arrow next to the “Default Presets” folder, select one of the animations in the list and click the “Apply” button.
Easy, isn’t it?

If you wish to make your own tween, click on the “Custom Presets” folder but, you first create the tween in the “Timeline” for it to show up here.

You right-click the tween, and choose “Save as preset motion …” in the pop-up menu.

Your “Motion tween” is stored in this folder. From then on, you can apply it to any symbol in any file.

If you wish to remove a tween from the list, select the tween, and click the trash icon.
Only custom made tweens can be removed.
