“Adobe Media Encoder”

With the “Adobe Media Encoder”, we convert video filming and sound files into files that can be played in the swf movies that we make when we start publishing our files.

To insert a movie in “Adobe Media Encoder”, we first need the “Adobe Media Encoder”.
The “Adobe Media Encoder” is a separate application that is included when you purchase “Flash”

If the encoder is open, click the “Add” button. In the dialog that appears, navigate to the movie file you want to convert, and click the “Open” button.

The first column gives the source name, in the second column “Format” (1) we have the choice between ‘FLV/F4V” and “H.264 ”

We use the first option when we want to use the video in a “Flash” movie but, the second option is used if we want to convert the video into an “MP4” file.

Clicking on the third column (2) opens a dialog where we can customize the export settings, including the number of presets.

These preset file types tell you which version of “Flash Player” you need, to view the file (4).

In the fourth column (3) we determine where we want to save the converted file.

Before you click OK, maybe you should first check the converted file in the tab “Output” (5).

Click OK when you’re done.

Back in the “Adobe Media Encoder” window, click the “Start queue” button.

Once “Adobe Media Encoder” has finished, we convert to “FLV” file that we can use in “Flash”.

“Video” loading

Now we have video, made it twice nothing to enter.

Just click “File” in the menu bar of Flash, choose “Import” from the drop-down menu and click “Import Video”.

In the upper part of the “Import Video” dialog box, browse the video you want to import.

Then make your choice how you want to “Import Video”.

Unless your video is not too large, you pick the first option, “Load external video with playback component”.

The second option would be chosen if the file size of your “Flash” movie is considerably large..

The first option has the further advantage of viewing the video online, without having to wait until the entire movie is downloaded before a user gets to see it but, starts to play as and when enough is downloaded to display .

In the next dialog, we determine the “Skin” of the “Video”.

“Skin” actually means the appearance and the position of the controls.

Click the downward pointing arrow next to the “Skin” box to make a choice and click the color picker to define a color.

Click the “Next” button.

The third window is for information only, so click the “Finish” button.

The “Video” will now be played on the “Stage”, when you test the “Flash” movie .

Make sure that when you display a “Flash” movie on your site, you upload the “Video” to the server otherwise “Flash” will not find the movie and not show.

Do not forget to upload the “Skin” of the video, otherwise you will have no controls in your movie. The “Skin” in fact is a separate “SWF” file created by “Flash”.
