Settings

To make your “Flash” movie play on the Internet in a proper way, we need this to ‘Publish” it an HTML page.

The first thing you do is refer to the settings to suit your needs.

Just click “File” in the menu bar and choose “Publish Settings” in the drop-down menu.

The “Publish Settings” dialog has three tabs.

“Layouts”, “Flash” and “HTML”.

Under the “Layouts” tab, we decide what we want.

What you certainly need to “Publish” your “Flash” file on the Internet are a.” Swf’ file and a “. Html” file.

If you want your “Flash” file as a JPEG image, another type of image or a stand alone file, then select these options.

Next to each file type you have the opportunity to give this a name, and next to the name box, you can choose a folder for this.

You need only a “.exe” to burn your “Flash” movie on CDs.

Under the “Flash” tab in the upper box, give the version of the player required for your movie to play. Choose “Flash Player 10”, so the visitor of your site should have “Flash Player 10” installed on his computer.

In the box below, we have the “Script” version. “ActionScript 3” is the latest version and is available in “Flash 9”. If you have used “ActionScript 3” functions, then you are obliged to “Publish” this film under at least “Flash Player 9” version.

In previous versions of “Flash Player”, this script is not present.

Below the “Script” part, we have the JPEG quality.

This sets the quality for each picture you used in your movie.

If you have this set individually for each picture, then you do not change it here.

In the third tab “HTML” we have some options for the settings of the “HTML” code.

In the first box, choose a “Template” for your flash movie.

The most common is the “Flash Only”.

Other options are “Flash Only-Allow Full Screen” where the visitor will allow your “Flash” movie in full screen view, and a few others.

Below that we have the “Detect Flash version” checkbox.

When this is checked, the Flash version of the “Flash Player” on the visitor’s computer monitor is detected and if necessary is pointed out, if it has an older version of Player installed on the computer.

The rest of the options are self explanatory.

Click the “Publish” button when you’re done.

You can now use your “Flash” movie with the associated “HTML” page published on the Internet.
