Course

We use a gradient fill for an object when we want to provide a graduated blend of colors.

A gradient consists of at least two colors, which is quite logical.

To add a gradient to an object, select the “Gradient” tool in the toolbar and click the object.

Once you’ve clicked the “Gradient” and added to the object, this object appears with a gradient slider.
With this color slider, we determine the color and the gradient of these colors in the object.
The same gradient slider is also found in the “Gradient” panel.
So, if you change something in the scrollbar of the “Gradient” panel, it will automatically be adjusted to the object .

Let us see what we’ve in the “Gradient” panel and how we can adjust the colors.

Above left we have a number of predefined gradient fills (1).
To the right, we find the types (2). You have two types of gradient. You have a linear type and a radial type.

The linear gradient applies a linear gradient of colors. The radial gradient is a circular gradient of color.

Among them we have a buttons by which we reverse the gradient, determine an angle for the gradient and aspect ratio for determining the variation in front of the object.

The first is obvious, I think.
With the second option, we determine the slope of the gradient (1). The same can be achieved by placing the mouse pointer on the edge of the slider in the object and when it changes in a circular arrow (2), click and drag it to the desired angle.

With the third option, we determine the ratio of the gradient with the object (3).
You can change the same ratio by placing the mouse pointer over the object with the gradient and when the circles appear at the edge of the selection, click and drag them (4).

Below that we have the heart of our gradient, “the gradient slider.”

With this we determine the number of colors, the “opacity” of the colors and location of the colors in our object.

Below the slider, we find the blocks with the colors used in our gradient (1).
If you want to change a color, double click the block and from the color window (2) choose another color.
If you want to add a color, then put the mouse pointer below the slider (3) and when a plus sign appears next to the cursor, click the mouse.
If you want to remove a color from the gradient, click and drag this down, away from the slider.
Through the “gradient slider” (4), above the slider, we determine the midpoint between two colors.
So if your gradient has three colors, you have two such buttons.

Add Gradient to “Swatches” panel

If you want to use the gradient later you must add it to the “Swatches” panel.
Click and drag the gradient fill, out of the “Gradient” panel to “Swatches” panel.
Then double-click the gradient in the “Swatches” panel and give it a name. This makes your life easier, especially when you have a whole library constructed with different gradients.

As for “Libraries”.
As you will see when you click the “Swatch Menu Libraries” button in the “Swatches” panel, you will see a category “Expired”.
I can already tell, there are so many in there. And also very good.

Awesome!
