Storing Effects:

If you have an effect, with the same options, such as clips or those being used in other projects, it might be useful to store them.
Right click above the effect you want to save, and select “Save Preset” in the drop-down menu.

In the “Name:” box you give the effect a name and select the option “Scale”.
We select the option “Scale” because not every clip that you add to a project will have the same dimensions. This option will be scaled based on the clip it is applied to.

The other two options “Anchor to In point” and “Anchor to out point” refer to the length of the clip, and they are not very efficient, I think. However, they are certainly not in this case.

To apply the newly saved effect to  a different clip select “Edit” and click the “Effects” option.
Click the downward pointing arrow next to  “Video Effects”, and select “My Presets”.

All your saved preset effects are displayed.
The only thing you still need to do is to apply this effect to a clip.

Transition or effect

When working with different clips in your project, it is more than likely that you will use different transitions between the clips.

But, and what I am saying is purely for information’s sake, why can’t we use effects to determine the transition between the clips.
With the knowledge you have now, this is quite possible.

An example.
In the first movie clip I start to zoom in from eg 10 frames for the last frame.

In the second clip I zoom out from the first frame up to the 10th frame.
Optionally I enter an additional effect, such as color balance, for both clips to get a bit more alignment.

You can get beautiful montages through effects and keyframes, so learn to work with it.
It can only work in your favor.

Awesome!
