Lesson 13: Text formatting (2)

13/66 Lessons

“Full Screen Reading” layout:

The “Full Screen Reading” layout was introduced in Word 2007.

We find the “Full Screen Reading” option, under the “View” tab in the ribbon, and also in the Status Bar.

When we click it, all the command buttons and scrollbars are hidden. By default, the first two pages of our document are displayed.

At the top, on the toolbar, we have a number of buttons, for example, for saving our document, printing, and other viewing options.

Click the “Close” button, or hit the Esc key on your keyboard to close this layout.

The “Show/hide” button:

The “Show/hide” button is found under the “Home” tab, in the ribbon.

When we click on it, all the special characters, such as space, a paragraph, an indentation, etc. in our document, are not visible.

These characters obviously do not get printed, but they can be useful in the formatting of our document.

Changing text

We have several options to change our text in our document.

One way is to place our cursor at the position where you want to change the text.

We can use the “Backspace” and “Delete” keys.

The “Backspace” key will delete the character before the cursor, and the “Delete” key, the character after the cursor.

Another way to delete text is to select the word, and press the Delete key on your keyboard.

If you want to replace a word by another word, select the word and start typing.
