Lesson 41: Labels

41/66 Lessons

Labels

To create a label, select the address first, in the document, and then click the “Labels” button under “Mailings” in the ribbon.
This opens the “Envelopes and Labels” dialog box, with two tabs, with the “Labels” tab selected, by default.
The address is already filled in, because we have already selected it in our document, but you can change it by typing or pasting another one.

In this dialog box, we have two radio buttons under the “Print” section.
You can select the first radio button if you want to print the same label on an entire page.

You can select the second one, if you wish to print a label on a sheet of different labels. Specify in the boxes below, the number of rows and columns your sheet of labels contains.

The example shown in the “Label” section, is an example of the label that was last used.

To print the label, click the “Print” button.
To display the labels in a new document, click the “New Document” button.

This opens a new document with our labels (all the same, of course), wherein we can save, print … or do whatever we want.

Options

Click on the “Options” button in the “Envelopes and Labels” dialog box, to set the options of our labels.
This opens the “Options” dialog box.

At the top, we give the printer information.
By default, the “Page Printers” option is selected, here.
We also find the “Tray” option, which is set to “Default tray”, by default.
If you want to change this or select a different option, click the downward pointing arrow.

We also have the “Label Information” section.
Clicking on the arrow pointing downwards, gives us a number of vendors of labels to choose from.
If you have selected a vendor, the various products of this vendor, are displayed in the “Product number” text box, below.

If you don’t find any vendor, or product number, that can be used for your labels, click the “New Label…” button.
This opens the “Label Details” dialog box, where you can enter just about all the options needed for your labels and print it in a lavish manner.
Give the label a name, enter your settings, and click OK.

This could be different for everyone and, hence, I’m not going to expand further
