Managing … (1)

We can use Windows Media Center for management and use of all media on our computer. When I say media I’m talking about video, music, photos, radio and TV stations.

Windows Media Center will open when we click on the “Start” button in the taskbar, select “All Programs” and click on “Windows Media Center” in the list.
You can find it sooner of course when you type “media” in the search box.

When your Windows Media Center opens for the first time, Windows will install this feature.
Once this is done, you get the following screen.
On the left and right side you have arrows that you can use to navigate between the different options.
Click the “Continue” button.

In the next screen (1) you have three options, “Learn More”, “Express” and “Custom”.
“Learn More” gives us more information about Windows Media Center.
Click the “Custom”, we manually adjust the various settings, one by one.
And with the “Express” all this happens automatically with the default settings.
If you still want to set these settingd manually, may be later.
Lazy as I am, I choose the option “Express” (1).
If you later want to set these settings manually, click the downward pointing arrow to navigate, and click “Tasks”. Select “General” in the next window, and click “Windows Media Center Setup.” In the next window, select “Run Setup Again” and confirm by clicking on the “Yes” button. Click “Continue” and you’re back in the “Getting Started” (1).

We continue, so I click the button “Express” (1).
This brings us to the Media Center (2).

In the Media Center window, we find various options listed vertically, Music, Movies, Photos and a few others. These options are in fact referring to folders on your computer.
Move the cursor down to scroll between the different applications.
For each application you have submenus, which you should try.

In this example I’m using the Windows Media Center to add a folder to the Music option. It would be fine to do so with the libraries too, but I must give an example, so I do it through Windows Media Center.
The first thing I do is double click the Music option.
By default, you already have three albums in the music option, they are given to you by Microsoft. I can imagine that these songs can hardly cheer, so we get our own folders.

Just click the Windows button in the top left corner.

This brings you back to the homepage of Windows Media Center.
Select “Tasks” in the vertical scroll menu.
Click “Media Library” (1).
Select “Music” in the next window (2), and click the “Next” button.

In the next window select “add folders to the library” and click the “Next” button.
What to do if you want to delete a folder I can not say for sure.
