The Desktop

As soon as we started our computer, we get to see the Windows 7 desktop. Windows 7 is very similar to Windows Vista, but it is very different from earlier versions, such as Windows XP.

What is immediately striking is that only one icon is featured on the desktop, namely the “Trash” icon and the “Sidebar” which was introduced in Vista is gone.

What no longer appears whenever you start the computer, is the “Splash Screen”.
If you still wish to see the introduction screen, click the “Start” button in the taskbar, and click “Introduction” in the menu that appears.
If you click on an option in the “Introduction” window, a description about the option will appear at the top of the option. Double clicking your option opens a new window where you can set the various components.

At the bottom of the desktop, we still have the “Taskbar”, which in Windows 7 is also known as the “Super Bar”.
The Taskbar no longer has “Quick Start” on the toolbar, but instead frequently used applications are pinned and moved.
And when multiple windows of the same application are open, we can see the thumbnail view of each individual window when we hover over the icon in the taskbar.
Just as an example, I used “Internet Explorer” application, which I’ve opened for three different sites.

The only thing I have to do to see a thumbnail view of all windows it to move the mouse pointer over the application in the system tray.

Move your mouse over a thumbnail, then you get this window in the background. Click a thumbnail view, this window will open.
Move your mouse over a thumbnail, a cross will appear in a red square in the upper right corner of the thumbnail display. If you click this, this window of the application is closed.
They call this function aero peek.
