Start Mini Bridge

New in Photoshop CS5 is the mini-bridge.

In contrast to The Bridge, which is a stand alone application, the Mini Bridge is included in the Photoshop.

With this, we do not have to navigate between the different programs Photoshop and The Bridge.
Mini Bridge can be opened in a number of ways.

One way is the “Mini Bridge” button in the “Application Bar” (1).

A second way is to click it in the panel (2).

And a third way is to click on the “File” (3) the menu bar and select “Browse in Mini Bridge” in the drop-down menu.

However you do it, this is how Mini Bridge looks (4), when it opens for the first time.

To start Mini Bridge, click the “Browse files” (5) button.

Navigate in the upper part of the Mini Bridge to the folder where you saved the pictures (1), double click this folder (2) and the photos contained in this folder will be displayed in miniature standard (3).

If you wish to go a level up or down to navigate the directory structure, use the arrow buttons (4) at top of the navigation pane of the Mini Bridge.

The two adjacent buttons can also be used to navigate between different folders.

By hovering over the edge of the pane (5), you can click and drag to adjust the size of this panel.

Place your mouse pointer between the navigation and the content section (6), you can also resize it.

All options in the menu bar at the bottom of the navigation pane and the Contents panel (7) are apparent.

Open files over Mini Bridge

To transfer a file from the Mini Bridge, to open in Photoshop, double click this file.

To select multiple files to open, first select the different files, and then double-click one of the selected files.

For selecting several adjacent files, click the first file, you hold the Shift key on your keyboard pressed and click the last file (A).

For selecting several non-adjacent files, click the different files while holding the Ctrl key on your keyboard pressed (B).

Another way to open files in Photoshop, by clicking and dragging from Mini Bridge in Photoshop.

However, if you wish to a second image as a second layer (2) in an already opened image, click and drag the second image into the first (1).

You can adjust the size of the inserted image by clicking and dragging the blocks on the edge of the inserted image.

Hold the Shift key on your keyboard pressed to preserve the proportions of the photo.

Hold the Alt key on your keyboard pressed to adjust the size from the center of the photo.

Click the Enter key on your keyboard to confirm.

Adding a photo to another photo in this way is as smart as adding an object.

But more on that later.

FYI

If you change the structure of folders and photos in The Bridge, they will be automatically adjusted in the Mini Bridge.

You can not change the structure of folders and photographs In Mini Bridge.
