Placing Markers

If you want to place various clips from your video in a menu on your DVD, the first thing you should do is organize them in different scenes.
To do this we place markers in the Timeline.

Drag the time indicator to the location in the Timeline where you want to add a menu marker.
Then click the arrow pointing downwards next to the “Markers” tab on top of the Timeline.
Select “Menu Markers” – “Set Menu Marker” in the drop-down menu.

This opens the “Menu Marker” dialog box.
In this window we can choose from three menu markers.
Scene Marker, Main Menu Marker and Stop Marker.

We use the “Scene Marker” to create a button in the menu selection that is to be clicked in order to start this movie clip.
We use the “Stop Marker” to return to the selection menu. If you do not stop the marker the video would continue playing.
We use the “Main Menu Marker” for to create a second menu on the CD.

If you select “Scene Marker” or “Main Menu Marker” you have the option of entering a line of text that will appear below the button in the selection menu of the CD.
You can also select the checkbox “Motion Menu”, and then a preview of this movie clip will play in the selection button in the menu. With time indicator to the right of the preview clip you can see the beginning of the sample clip.

Click the OK button when you’re done.

DVD menus

Most of the work is already done, the only thing we still need to do is to explore the “slide menus” option.
Select a menu type in the panel and click the “Apply” button.

Select a main menu or scene in the disc menus, and you can change the background and the sound (1).
To change the text of a menu double click the text (2). In the dialog box that appears, type the text and click the OK button when you’re done.
If you want to move the menu buttons click and drag them to the desired position, which is the same for the corresponding texts.

If you want to see an example of how it will look like on your DVD, click the “Preview” button.

Awesome!
