Types of classification

We use classification of pictures to filter them based on their classification.
In Lightroom we have the ability to classify images based on different ways.
The first is the flag filter (1).
This flag filter classifies pictures as selected or rejected.
Flags are set in the Library module.
The second is the classification based on stars (2).
And the third is the classification based on color labels (3).
To classify a photo, select the photo (s) and click the classification of your choice.
To de-classify a picture, select the picture and click again on the assigned classification.

Flag Filter

With the flag filter we have three possibilities.

  1. the picture is selected,
  2. the picture was refused and
  3. the picture has no flag filter.

Flags are set in the Library module.
When a flag is assigned to photos, you can click flag filter button in the Filmstrip or in the Library Filter bar, to view and edit the photos with a certain flag.

The shortcut to “flag” a picture is the “P” key on your keyboard.
The shortcut “decline” a picture is the “X” key on your keyboard.
The shortcut to change the classification of a flag of your picture is the “U” key on your keyboard.

To show only the unclassified photos, click the filter button and in the Library Filter Bar, select the rating you wish to filter.

Star Filter

And finally we have the star rating.

We use the stars below to provide a star-rating to a picture.
We use the stars in the filter bar at the top to filter our pictures based on stars.
At any time, you can filter on several qualifications.
