Compare View

And finally we have two display options with which we compare photos.
The first is the “Compare View” (1) and the other is the “Survey View” (2).

Let me first start with the “Compare View”.
We use this option to compare the display of two photos that are similar.  For this, select the photos in the Grid view or the Filmstrip. To select multiple photos, hold the Ctrl key on your keyboard pressed.

Then click the “Compare View”. The shortcut for this is the C key on your keyboard.

This gives both photos in “Compare View”.

Click the Tab key on your keyboard to hide the side panels. So you have more space for you to view the photos. Repeat this operation to display the side panels again..

To zoom in on the two photos together, click somewhere in one of two pictures, or use the zoom lever at the bottom.

If you are zoomed in, click and drag in the image to navigate around the photo.

You will see that the position changes in both pictures.
However if you wish to zoom or navigate just one picture, click the “lock” icon (1).

The first photo is selected, and the other is the candidate (2) in the “compare view”.
If you want to interchange these, click the “Swap” button (3).

Using the arrow keys (1), you can navigate through the different pictures.

Bottom left of each picture, we have two tiny icons (2).

One is to flag the picture as choice, the second is to set the picture as “Rejected”.

If you have you made your choice, click the “Done” button.

This takes you back to the “Loupe”.
There is not more to talk about the “Compare View”.

It’s just a different way to compare similar looking pictures and to choose which photos you wish to keep or throw away.

Survey View

We use this view to judge if and how, different pictures belong together. For example, the color of the photos match, or the dimensions or I do not know what else.

So we use this just to see if everything fits neatly together.

If you want to remove a photo that you think that it does not belong, just move your mouse over the photo, and you click the X icon that appears (1).

The Toolbar

What I hurriedly want to talk about is the toolbar that we find in the Grid view and the Loupe view.

If you do not see it, click the T key on your keyboard.

We can use this toolbar in a fairly quick way to provide one or multiple photos with a rating (1), a label (2) and keywords (3).

Note that when you perform these operations on one or more of the pictures, the photos are selected (A).

If you want to rank these alphabetically or numerically, click the “Sort Direction” button (4).

Awesome!
