Copying and moving cells by clicking and dragging

We can “Move” and/or “Copy” data in “Excel” by selecting and dragging cells. To “Move” the contents of cells, first select the cells, slide your mouse pointer over the black edge of the selection and when it changes into a four-arrow pointer, drag it to the desired position.

To “Copy” the contents of cells, first select the cells, hold the Ctrl key on your keyboard pressed, move your mouse pointer over the black edge of the selection, until an “an arrow and a plus sign” appears and drag it to the desired position. When you have reached the desired position, first release the mouse button, and then the Ctrl key. The contents of the cells will be copied.

Another way to “Copy” or “Move” cells is by means of the mouse right-button. First select the cells,right-click and drag it to the desired position, release the mouse and in the pop-up menu that appears choose the option that you want, to “Move” or “Copy”.

To “Move” cells to another “Worksheet”, select the cells in one “Worksheet” (1), hold the Alt key on your keyboard pressed and drag it to the tab of the “Worksheet” that you want to put this (2).
When the “Spreadsheet” opens, place it in the correct position (3) and when you’ve reached, then release the mouse button (4).

If you want to “Copy” data to another “Worksheet” you do the same by holding the Ctrl key pressed.

If you want to move cells between “existing” cells, hold the Shift key on your keyboard while you drag them. A grey line (1) appears in the position to which the cells are moved. Release the mouse button when the desired position is reached (2).

The same goes for columns. If you want to “Move” a column, select the column first, hold the Shift key pressed on your keyboard and drag it to the desired position.

Drag it with the right mouse button and a pop-up window opens where you can choose whether you’d like to “Move” or “Move and Copy” (1). However, if you use the right mouse button to “Move” columns you do not see a grey line between two columns but, one column is selected (2). The moved column is on the left side of the column.
