13.3. Changing the password of a “Section”

You can change passwords of existing “Sections” in your “Notebook” easily. You may be wanting to do this for various reasons, probably because the password of a “Section” in the “Notebook” might not be private, or it might be that you just want to change your passwords periodically, for extra security.

 

Right-click on the tab of the “Section” for which you want to change the password and click the “Change Password” button that appears in the “Password Protection” task pane.

 

 

 

 

In the task pane click on the “Change Password” button.

 

Remark: If this option is not available, there is no password for the selected “Section” at present.

 

 

In the dialog box that appears, type the old password in the first text field and the new one in the next text field which is titled “Enter New Password”

 

Confirm the password by typing it again in the“Confirm Password” text field, and then click“OK” .

 

 

13.4. The removal of a password for a “Section”

Right-click on the tab of the “Section” whose password you want to delete and click on the“Remove Password” button that appears in the “Password Protection” task pane.

 

Enter the current password to remove it.

If this option is not available, there is no password for the selected “Section” at present.

 

13.5. All “Sections” with password protection with one Lock at a time:

You can create a password protection lock for all “Sections” in a “Notebook” in one shot.
To do this you need to right-click on the tab of any “Section” in your “Notebook”.

In the “Password Protection” task pane that opens, click on the “Lock All” button.

ip: Press Ctrl + Alt + L to lock all password-protected “Sections” in the current “Notebook”.

 

13.6. Options for setting password

When you are working in your “Notebook”, password protected “Sections” are unlocked for a certain period before being re-locked. You can specify this period of time and you can also set custom options for password protection.

In the “File” menu, click “Options”.
In the dialog box that opens, click on the “Advanced” option.

 

In the passwords tab, you can select the time period for unlocking “Sections” by selecting the “Lock password protected sections after I have not worked in them for the following amount of time” check-box and select the desired span of time.You then have to clear the “Lock password sections as soon as I navigate away from them” check-box.

 

If you want your “Notebook” “Sections” to be locked immediately after you’ve finished working with them, select the “Lock password sections as soon as I navigate away from them” check-box.

 

If you want to make your password protected notes available to other programs, you have to select the “Enable add-in programs to access password protected sections when they are unlocked” check-box.
