Lesson 35: “Photo Album”

35/59 Lessons

Insert “Photo album”

In “PowerPoint”, we have the ability to insert a “Photo album”.   This is a handy feature when we want to show only photos in our show, possibly with a caption.

Select the “Insert” tab in the “Ribbon” and click the “Photo Album”.
The “Photo album” consists of two parts.
Clicking on the upper part will always create a new album.
Clicking on the lower part will show a drop-down menu, in which we can choose a new album, or edit an existing album.

In this example I’m making a new album so, I click the upper part of the button.   This opens the “Photo Album” dialog.
To add one or more photos to your album, click the “File / Disk …” button at the top left of the dialog.

This opens the “Insert New Pictures” dialog where, you navigate to the folder where your photos are stored.

Select the photo (s) you want to insert and click the “Insert” button.

This places all the selected photos in the “Pictures in album” list.

What do we have in this dialog?

Under the “File / Disk …” we have the button “New text box” button.

When we click on it, this will add a blank slide with a text box, under the selected photo in the “Pictures in album:”.

So I click this button as everything is in the image above now, then I inserted the blank slide with the text, between photos “Photo01” and “Photo02”.

Among them we find the “Picture Options” section.

The first option is, “Captions below ALL Pictures.”

This can only be checked if we have made a choice in the “Picture Layout”.

The second option in this section is, “All Pictures black and white”

When this is checked, all our photos are shown in black and white, but it is clear I think.

Below that, we have the “Album Layout” section.

Here, we must make a choice about the number of photos per slide and whether, we want this slide with a title or not.

Choose from the drop-down menu when you click the down pointing arrow.

If you have made a choice, then you have the option to “Caption below ALL Pictures” box.

Please note, a caption is not the same as a title.

You have only one title per slide, but you can have multiple captions, the later depends on the number of photos in a slide.

By default, the name of the previously selected photo is shown but, you can customize it once they are inserted into the slides.

Below that we have the “Frame Shape” option.

Click the downward pointing arrow and make your choice.

Square corners, rounded corners, does not matter.

In the box underneath, “Theme”, you can choose a theme by clicking the “Browse” button.

This opens the “Choose theme” dialog where you can create a self made theme or select from “Powerpoint Themes”.

What do we have?
Under the “Pictures in album:” section, we have a number of buttons.

I will quickly explain them from left to right.

First we have the “Up” and “Down” arrows, with which we may change the order of the picture that is selected in the “Pictures in album:”.

We also have the “Delete” button.

If you want to remove a photo from the album, select it first in the “Pictures in album:” and then click on this button.

We also find the “Rotate Image” buttons, these are both very clear I think.+

We also have the “Contrast” buttons and the “Brightness” buttons.

All these need no further explanation, I think.

Click the “Create” button when all your settings are complete.

The only thing you have to do is, when you’ve selected the “Caption for ALL Pictures” and “Picture with title” options, add the related information.

Awesome!
