Lesson 39: “Animation” between slides

39/59 Lessons

“Transitions”

When I talk about animation in “PowerPoint”, these animations can happen during the “Transition” between two slides, and on any object in your slide.

Let me start by talking about the “Transition” between two slides.

In earlier versions of “PowerPoint”, you find the various transitions under the “Animations” tab.

In “PowerPoint” 2010, they have given it, its own tab and there are a number of new transitions added. It is impossible to discuss one by one but, I will not deny you some tricks.

When a “Transition” is selected, an animation icon appears next to the slide (1) and we find a number of options (2) for this “Transitions” in the “Ribbon”.

Let me go over the options again.

The first “Example”, shows you a preview of the “Transition”.

The second is the list of different “Transitions”.
With the third we have certain effects that can be applied on this “Transition”. These effects are dependent on the selected “Transition”.

By clicking on the downward pointing arrow next to the “Sound” box, you can set a sound for the “Transition”.

In the “Duration”, set the duration of the “Transition”.
With the “Apply to all” option, the “Transition” settings are applied to all slide “Transitions”.

And with the last two options “On Mouse Click” and “After” we determine whether the “Transition” happens after a mouse click or after a certain time.  Select both options here, then the “Transition” will take place after the first thing that happens. So suppose we set this for 7 seconds and click the mouse button after 5 seconds then, the “Transition” will be performed. Or if you did not click anything, then the “Transition” will be executed automatically after 7 seconds.

If you clicked on the “Apply to all” in the “Ribbon”, the “Transition” between the different slides is set to the same, but you can change this for some slides.

For example.  You have set the “Transitions” for all slides to “Conveyor”, “On Click” and “After” for 5 seconds, by clicking on the “Apply to all” button. You can still change the time for a certain slide “Transition”.

To do this, select the slide (1) in the “Normal View” or “Slide View”, that does not matter and change the “After” time (2).

This can of course be done for any “Transition” option in the “Ribbon”.
To view the presentation, click the “Slideshow” button (3), or click the F5 key on your keyboard.
To return to “Normal view” in “PowerPoint”, click the “Esc” key on your keyboard.

Awesome!
