Translations

In Word 2010 and earlier versions, we have the option of translating texts.
Click the “Review” tab in the ribbon, and under the “Language” section, click “Translate”, and you can select one of the three options.
The second option, “Translate Selected Text” opens the “Research” pane, where the selected text is translated (2). In the “From” and “To:” text boxes, you can specify the languages.

The third option, i.e, “Mini Translator” opens a window containing the translation, when the mouse pointer moves over the text.

The first option opens the translated text in a browser window where you can even translate entire web pages.

As for these translations, they are of very poor quality and cannot be relied upon.

Format

When we have set a certain format for a text, it may sometimes occur, that we want to apply this format to other texts in our document.

For this we do not have to go back and perform all these actions, but we can use the “Format painter” option in the ribbon, under the “Home” tab.

For this, first select the text which you want to copy or format and click the “Format painter” button in the ribbon.

Now, when you move the mouse pointer on your document, you will see that it has turned into a brush with a vertical line.

Click and drag it over the text you want to format. Release the mouse button when you have selected the text .

Once you let go of the mouse you can paste this format anywhere.

If you like the formatting of text to be pasted on different parts of your document, double click the “Format painter” button.

If this function remains suitable, click the “Format painter” button again.
