Add Album

We use Picasa albums to share photos scanned by Picasa, with clearly established criteria determined by you.

To add one or multiple photos to an album, you must first select the photo (s) you want to place in the new album, and click the button “Add selected items to an album.”

This opens the dialog “Album Properties” where you enter a name and date for the album, and possibly a location and a description. The later two subjects are optional.

Click the OK button when you’re done.

All selected photos will be included in the new album.

Albums are displayed above the folder list.

The number of pictures that are in the album are displayed in parentheses next to the album name. This is also the same with the folders.

If you have multiple photos that you want to put them all together in the same album, but divided into different folders, first select the photos in the first folder.

Then click the button “Hold Selected itesms” in the Photo Tray.

Then open the next folder by selecting it in the folder list.

Then select the photos in the second folder.

And finally, click the button “Add selected items to an album.”

If you need more than two folders, do the same, of course, for the other folders.

Important to know!

The difference between an album and a folder is that the photos in an album are not actually in this album, but only virtually. The album itself is only virtual and is only shown in Picasa.

A folder however does have all the pictures.  In other words, you remove an album, all your photos are still available to you.

If you remove a folder, this deletes all photos in this folder on your computer.

So by making use of albums, you can organize the photos without actually moving them on your computer.

Add Photo to existing album

Addind a photo to an existing album is “a piece of cake”.

First select the photo or the photos.

Click the button “Add selected items to an album”.

In the list that appears, choose the album that you want to add your photo (s) to.

A second way is to right click the picture and choose “Add to Album” and click on the photo album you want to add to.

Delete Photo from Album

To delete a photo from an album, you have to first select the album from the folder list.

Then select the photo, and click the Delete key on your keyboard.

In the dialog that appears, click the button “Yes” to delete the photo from the album.

When you delete a picture from an album you do not remove it from your computer. This remains in the folder where it resides.

A picture in multiple albums

We have the opportunity to take a photo to different albums in Picasa.

This is useful, especially when you know you used albums for photos under a certain categorization.

In order to accommodate a picture in multiple albums, select the photo, this may be added to an earlier album, or this may be in a folder, it does not matter.

You click the button “Add selected items to an album” and select another album.  The same image will now appear in both albums.

You can send a picture to as many albums as you want.

Delete Album

To delete an album, right click it in the folder list and choose “Delete Album” in the drop-down menu.

If you delete an album, then the pictures contained in this album are not removed from your computer.

The photos in an album are virtual, and are not actually in this album.

However, there is an album that can not be removed in this way.

This is the “Starred Photos” album. Remember, this was automatically created by Picasa when we gave stars to photos.

It will automatically disappear when all the stars from all the photos are removed.
