In Lesson 4 we have already seen how we can add a keyword or keywords, call it what you want, to a photo.

Well, if you wish to find a picture about a topic quickly, I can only suggest that you add keywords to each photo in your Picasa library.

It costs a bit more time when you are inserting the photos into the Picasa library, but it will save you time when you are looking for a particular photo.

What I can tell you is when you add keywords, if the keyword has already been typed in Picasa for another picture, it will automatically complete as soon as you start typing.

All you have to do is to select this keyword and click the “Add” button.

To search for one or more photos you type the keyword or several keywords in the search box.

As soon as you start typing, Picasa will start showing the pictures that meet the requirements at that instant, from the folder where they are located.

New in Picasa 3, we find the filters next to the search box.

These can also be used in conjunction with the search box.

For example, I type the keyword “albuquerque”, it gives me all the pictures with this keyword, then I click the filter button “Show only photos with faces” ie I will only show the pictures of Albuquerque where a face appears.

Although I would like to ask, where it can find a photo taken in Albuquerque that it can avoid me? Is this because it can not stand me?

I do not know, but I think it’s because I’m standing there in perspective.

The search function is also not case sensitive.

Advanced Search

We can search for photos by keywords or even on properties, we already know that.

But what I have not told you is that you can search by the description of a directory.

I had already made an album that contains all the pictures of the elephants in Antwerp zoo, and this was the aptly named as “Elephants”.

Now, everyone knows that a baby elephant is born in the Antwerp Zoo, and I just so happen to have these pictures in my “Elephants” album.

I have the possibility to create a sub-album jonki to post the pictures of this baby elephant. Select the photos from “Elephants” album and click on the “Add selected photos to an album” button and select “New album.”

I give the album a name, description, and click the OK button.

Now when I perform a search on the description I have just entered, Picasa will show me only the results of the jonki.

Also note that the description you entered appears under the name of the album and the folder.

Awesome!
