Lesson 12: Show 9 Placing Layers in a slide

12/65 Lessons

Now that we know something about layers, in this lesson we learn how to re-size layers (size) and how to place them at a desired position in a slide.

New show

  • Create a new show titled “Show 9_Guitar” by clicking [File]> New Show, changin the title in the popup menu to “Show 9_Guitar” and retaining the aspect ratio at 4:3. Click [Create].

Layers

  • We select the built-in explorer “Exercise 09”. We select four pictures, Guitar_f (1) tm f (4) and dragging them to the slide list, but in such a way that they are placed as layers in a slide. Keep the [Ctrl] key pressed while dragging or drag the layer to the [Slide Options] window. The slide duration is set at 10 seconds and the transition time is 0 sec.

Reduce and Places of the layers

  • Double-click the slide and select the “Slide Options” tab, and [Layers]- [Layers Settings] in the window that opens. We first organize the layers. The layer “Guitar_f (1)” is at the top. This can be adjusted by dragging it to a different position or by using the UP and Down arrows.
The size of the pictures can be reduced. We use the [Zoom] button for this.

Again, you can zoom in several ways: – by using the slider – by entering the zoom factor – by using the mouse to increase the size of the “Preview” window.
We consider these settings:

Guitar_f (1): zoom = 30%,
Guitar_f (2): zoom = 30%,
Guitar_f (3): zoom = 30%,
Guitar_f (4): zoom = 80%.

Now we move these photos to create a composition. Once again, you can do this in various ways. Just click and drag the position bar in the “Preview” window or enter the correct coordinates.

We use these settings in this lesson:

Guitar_f (1): position x = -30, -32
Guitar_f (2): position x = 0, -30
Guitar_f (3): position x = -30, 32
Guitar_f (4): position x = 26, 0

Do not forget to select the appropriate layer. A selected layer is more visible than the others.

Text in a slide

  • This time we place the text “Guitars” directly on the slide and specify the effects as fly in and then twirl. Select [Captions]- [Captions Settings].

Layers in motion

  • It all gets better when there is motion in the slide. We are going to specify a different motion effect for each layer. “Guitar_f (1)” comes in from the bottom right, “Guitar_f (2)” comes in from the center, on the right, “Guitar_f (3)” from the top right, “Guitar_f (4)” from the center, on the left. Select the [Effects]- [Motion Effects] option and select a layer and drag it to the “Starting Position” as indicated. The ending position will be specified as in Section 3. Click OK to close the “Slide Options” window.

Copying a Slide

  • Because this show ends rather abruptly, we add a sound track so that the final score is extended. To copy an entire slide, we use Copy and Paste [Ctrl + [c] and [Ctrl] + [v]. Now we set the duration to 5 sec and the transition time to 2 sec.
  • Now we need to add stability to all layers in this 2nd slide. In other words, all motions should look alike. Double click on this 2nd slide and select [Effects]- [Motion Effects] and set the starting position for each layer so that it is equal to the ending position.

Adding Music

  • 8. Select the music track “La Paloma.wav” from Lesson 09 and drag it to the Soundtrack. We will now trim the music so that it gently fades out at the end of this show.
Click on the [Timeline] at the top. Thus we see can clearly view the sound track in the timeline.
Approximately at the end of the 2nd slide, right-click the Soundtrack and select “Stop Track Here” from the popup menu.

Creating a .WMV file

  • This time we make a movie in WMV format. Just click [Create Output] on the toolbar at the top.
In the window that appears, select [Video File]. The popup menu will be displayed as shown in the picture below.

Click on [Create] and place the show in the correct folder on your PC and give it the proper name “Lesson9_Guitars”. Then start the process of creating this film (rendering). This window will be displayed after the video has finished rendering.

If you want to see this show, you should open the folder in which it is stored.
