Lesson 18: Show 15: Using transparent images

18/65 Lessons

In this lesson we deal with still pictures in which a special moving effect is obtained by the use of transparent images.

New show

  • Create a new show titled “Show 15_Propellers” by cliking [File]> New Show, changing the title in the popup menu to “Show 15_Propellers” and retaining the aspect ratio at 4:3. Then click [Create].

Inserting Layers

  • Go into the “Folder List” to “Show 15_Transparant layers”, select the “Airplane” image and drag it to the slide list.
  • Set the transition time to 0 sec.
  • Select the “Propeller.psd” image from Exercise 15 and drag it to the slide as an additional layer-and while dragging keep the [Ctrl] key pressed.
  • Double-click the slide and select [Layers]> [Layers Settings]. Slide the zoom slider to 75%

Duplicate

  • Select the layer “Propeller”, right click and select [Duplicate Layer] from the menu.

Positioning layers

  • Select the layer 1, i.e, “Propeller1” and place it on the engine of the aircraft at position -25.37, -34.15.
  • For layer 2, i.e, “Propeller2” place it on the 2nd motor, at position 25.29, -32.46

Rotating Propellers

  • It would be nice if the propellers spin. Select [Effects]> [Motion Effects]. As with real aircraft where the propeller rotation times are not equal, here also we simulate this. Select layer 1 and in the [Rotate] box, specify the start position at -360 and the final position at 360. For layer 2, we specify -270 to 360 in the [Rotate] box. For both layers set the  “Motion Speed” to “Linear”.

Saving the Show

  • The show is saved as follows: select [File]> Save As. With the explorer, select the appropriate folder. Change the File Name to “Show 15_Propellers” and click [Save].
