Lesson 24: Show 20: Visual effects with movement

24/65 Lessons

Some photos can be used to create beautiful effects.

New show

  • Create a new show titled “Show 20_Bird”. Click [File]> New Show; change the title in the Show Title text box to “Show 20_Bird” and retain the aspect ratio at 4:3. Click [Create].

Dragging a Photo and filling a frame

  • Select the photo “Macro nature” which was used in Lesson 20 and drag it to the slide list and fill the frame completely. We do this by double clicking on the picture and selecting [Layers]> [Layer Settings] in the window that appears, and then you find the [Scaling] option. Select [Fill Frame] (fill the frame entirely) from the drop down menu. Click [OK].

Additional layers and positioning

  • Drag the “psd” file with the name “Bird” as a layer on the photo. Press the [Ctrl] key as you drag. Double-click the slide and select [Layers]> [Layers Settings]. We place this layer, “Birds”, in such a way that the right of the screen is filled.

Movement insertion

  • In this step, we are going to move the layers.
We go to the menu [Slide Options]> [Effects]> [Motion Effects]. The “Bird” layer’s size is reduced by sliding down the “Zoom” slider. Set the [Starting Position] (Starting position) [Zoom] value to 160%. This can be done by using either the slider or entering the number 160 in the appropriate box. Set the [Ending Position] (end position) [Zoom] to 110%.
For the layer “Macro Nature” we increase the zoom value, from a smaller value to a larger value. Select [Layers] and the layer “Macro Nature” and set the [Zoom] of the  [Starting Position] at 95% and [Ending Position] at 130%.
Close the menu, by clicking [OK].

Saving a show

Save this show under the name “Show 20_Bird”.
Click [File]> [Save As], select the appropriate folder where you want to keep this project, using the explorer and change the File name to “Show 20_Bird”

Note: PSD file

Using a photo editing program you can easily create such a photo effect. In the forthcoming lessons, we will go over the use of masks for a photo without changing it, and there also we can use this effect.
