Lesson 61: Show 53: Ballooning

61/65 Lessons

To work with keyframes, Proshow has another interesting built-in option. This is used in this lesson.

New show

  • Create a new show titled “Show 53_Ballooning”. Click [File]> [New Show] change the [Show Title], and retain the [Aspect Ratio] at 4:3. Click [Create].

Photos and gif files as layers

  • Select the picture “Landscape” and the gif file, “Balloon1” from Lesson 53 and drag them as layers to slide 1.

Adjusting the Slide and transition times

  • The slide time is set to 6 sec and the transition time to 0 sec.

Zooming layers

  • Double-click the slide and select [Layers]> [Layer Settings]. Set the [Zoom] of [Balloon1] at 20%.

What is exactly displayed in the “preview window”?

  • Select [Effects]> [Motion Effects].

Click on the [Open preview precision] button in bar on the left.

  • This opens the following window:

As you can see most of the buttons are known from the previously used screens, such as [Zoom] [Slide Time], [Pan], etc..

Additional keyframes

  • Select the layer [Balloon1] (1). Additional keyframes are added by double clicking on the timeline at the top (2). We add one at 1.5 sec and one at 4 sec.

Keyframe selection

  • Now, to select a keyframe in the timeline above, click on the keyframe. This is important because if you do not do this and just click in the picture then there are chances that the layer jumps so you will no longer be working with the correct layer. So you have to be very careful here.

Moving the balloon and displaying this

  • For this lesson, we let the balloon take off, slide it from right to left and then lower it. The movement can be done with the following settings: Click on the timeline [Keyframe 1], set [Zoom] = 20%, [Pan X] = 34 and [Pan Y] = 31.

Click [Keyframe 2], set [Zoom] = 40%, [Pan X] = 24 [Pan Y] = -25.
Click [Keyframe 3], set [Zoom] = 50%, [Pan X] = -20, [Pan Y] = -19.
Click [Keyframe 4], set [Zoom] = 25%, [Pan X] = -31, [Pan Y] = 32.

  • Press the [Play] (3) to see the motion effect.

Use of Smoothing

  • The lines between the different key frames are also seen quite clearly.

By default, these are curved lines. This is because the [Smoothing] is set to 50%. Just click on the [Keyframe 2] and use the slider, [Smoothing]. You will see that the lines are more or less curved. So, now you can easily adjust the movement of the balloon.

  • Close this screen, click the [Close] button and quit the next screen and see the result.

Saving the show

  • Save this project now. Click [File]> [Save As] and select the correct folder in which you want to save this project using the explorer and change the [Name] if necessary. Click [Save].
