Organization

Just as in any other application with which we work, organization is also important in “PSP” so that you can save time.
In “PSP X2”, we do this using the palette, ‘”Organizer”‘. This palette opens by default when we launch “PSP”. If you do not see this palette, click the arrow pointing downwards next to “Palettes” in the standard toolbar, and select “Organizer”” from the list.

The palette, “Organizer” is divided into three parts.
On the left we find the list of folders and on the right , we have a preview of the pictures in the selected folder, along with a number of buttons.
The first button that I want to discuss with you is the “On / Off mode Organize” button (1).
When you click this button, a new palette window opens and you can drag it to the position you want. You can resize this window by clicking on its edge, and by dragging it till your desired size is reached.
Clicking again on the same “On / Off mode Organize” button (2), anchors this window back to its default position.

When the palette is anchored to its default position, you can resize it by moving your mouse pointer over the border and when it changes into a two-headed arrow (3) “Click and drag”.

Do you want to resize the pictures in the palette “”Organizer””? Click and drag the “Zoom lever” (4) to the left or right to zoom out and in.

Let’s see what else we have here.
Clicking on the arrow pointing downwards, next to the icon at the left (A), opens a drop-down menu with several options. All of them seem clear to me, but let me quickly go over them once.

  • “Recent files” will display a list of recently opened files.
  • “View more folders” will open a dialog where you can select other folders on your computer to add to your folder structure in the palette “”Organizer””. You must know that not all the folders in the folder structure in the “Organize” palette will be stored on your computer. So you should have a folder on your PC to have the folder structure of the PSP sites.
  • “Select All” will select each photo that is in the “Organizer” palette.
  • “Select none” will do the just the opposite.
  • By clicking on the “Rename” option, you can rename the selected photo.
  • And, the last option, “Refresh”, will update all folders in the directory structure.

Clicking on the arrow pointing downwards next to the “Sort by” option (B) opens a drop-down menu where we can sort the photos by “Date”, “Name”, and “Rating”. I think this is clear.

The third button is “Image Information” (C).
This opens a section of the palette that gives us information about the selected photo. We can give a “Rating” and we can add “Tags” to a photo.
“Tags” are keywords. These “Tags” can be searched for in the search box (9) to determine the type of photo.
Clicking on the “General info” in this section indicates you have some more options which give you  information about the selected photo which can be changed.

Between all these pop-up list sections we have a number of buttons that I just want to brief you about.

The first is the “Remove Picture” option (1). When we click this, the selected photo or photos in the palette “Organizer” will be removed.

“Rotate clockwise” and “Rotate Counterclockwise” are the next buttons (2 and 3).These seem quite clear.

We also have the “Quick Overview” button (4). When we click on this button we can see the pictures from the folder in the form of a slideshow.
To save a slide show, navigate to the last slide with the “Next slide” button (1), and when the entire menu pops up, click the button, “Save as Corel presentation” (2).
To quickly close the slideshow click the ESC key on your keyboard.
As you can see in the picture below, there are more buttons in the navigation bar, but all of them seem quite clear and therefore there’s no need for any explanation.

We also have the “Express Lab” button (5) which I will explain in one of the following lessons.

Then we have the “Print Summary” button (6) where we can print a list of pictures in the folder. When you click this button a dialog box opens which is self explanatory.

We also have the “Image Info” button which we have already seen.

We also have the “Share via e-mail” button (7). When we click this, the default e-mail program opens, where selected images are added automatically.

And finally we have the “Order Prints” button (8) where we can make photos available online. For this you must first create an account.

Another tip:
If you want to move a picture to another folder, click and drag it from the palette “Organizer” to the required folder in the folder structure.
If you want to copy a picture to another folder, press the Ctrl key on your keyboard while you drag.

Awesome!
