“Cropping” a Photo

If we want to retain a certain part of a photo we use the “Crop” tool.
First open the photo which you want to crop, and click the “Crop” button in the toolbar.  This crops the photo.
Move the mouse pointer over one of the blocks at the edge of the photo to the place you want to crop. You can change the size of this frame by dragging the mouse pointer in any direction.
Place your mouse pointer in the frame, and then when it changes to a four-headed arrow you can move the position of the frame by clicking and dragging it.

In “PSP X2” there are new options in the toolbar that appear below the cropped frame, for example, you have a button to turn on the cropping option.

If you wish to use you a cropped picture for something like a CD cover or a postcard you can use already established “Presets”. For an image that is 10 x 15 cm we should first change the units in inches in the sidebar.

If you wish to enter the size manually, enter the desired dimensions in the “Width” and “Height” columns.

If you are ready with the selection, click on the green icon with the white check mark or double-click it in the Bounding box.

Straightening a Photo

If you have taken a skewed picture because of something stuck in your feet or any other reason, PSP provides a solution for this problem, for you.

First open the picture that you want to change and then click the “Straighten” tool.
This places a line in the photo.

Click and drag from the beginning till the end of this line to the edge of the building, or rather the edge you want to straighten.
As I want the edge of the building to be horizontal in the picture, highlight “Make Horizontal” mode.
Place the line parallel to the vertical edge of the building, and select the “Make Vertical” option and then click the “Apply” button.

If you want to crop the picture right after you draw a picture, select the “Crop Image” option from the options menu.

Awesome!
