Adding, deleting and moving Shapes

If we want to add a shape to our drawing, we click and drag it from the stencil onto the drawing page.

To move a shape in the drawing page, move the mouse pointer over the shape, and when it changes into a four-headed arrow, click and drag it to the desired position.
A second way to move a shape is to select it and then use the arrow keys on your keyboard to move it.(keep the Ctrl key on your keyboard pressed if you want this to work even more accurately).

If you wish to remove a shape from the drawing page, select it and press the Delete key on your keyboard.

Selection Handles

Depending on the type of “Shape” that has been selected, we have a number of control handles.
I think that it is quite unecessary and probably impossible for me to discuss all the selection handles for each shape.
But, as an example, the “L-shaped room” shape has green and yellow handles.
You can change the dimensions of the shape with the help of the green selection handles, and with the help of the yellow selection handles, you can change the shape of the shape.

By clicking and dragging the selection handles, you can modify the properties of the shape.

The “Status bar” shows the overall height and width of the selected shape.

A second method of modifying the properties of a shape is to this right-click on it and select “Properties” from the drop-down menu.
Then you can fill in the available dialog boxes that appear, depending on the selected shape.
For example, you can set the “Door open percentage” for the “Door” shape.
Another way of performing the same action is to click and drag the yellow selection handle that appears when a door is selected.

To add a door or window to your drawing, drag it and place it next to the wall where it is to be placed. “Visio” will automatically recognize it as a doorway or a window and it is treated and displayed as such.
For example, you will never find a horizontal window in a vertical wall. “Visio” will automatically rotate the window.
