Creating “Toolbars”

As in all other programs of “Office”, even in “Access”, we can create our own “Toolbar”.

To create a “Toolbar” we click on “Tools” in the menubar and select “Customize”.

In the “Toolbars” tab, click “New”.

Give your “Toolbar” a name, in our case “GC toolbar”, and click OK.

Now we need to add buttons to our “Toolbar”, otherwise it has little use.

Choose the tab “Commands” in the dialog.

In the “Commands” tab, we have two panes: The categories on the left and on the right, buttons.

Now, to add buttons to our “Toolbar”, we select a button on the right and we drag it to our “Toolbar”.

If you wish to delete a button again, click the right mouse button and choose ‘Delete”.
Or click on the button and drag it back into the dialog box.

If you now have different sections in your “Toolbar”, you can organize them:

Choose the first button of the next section and click the right button on your mouse.

Select “Start a Group”, a word line formed between the two sections in the toolbar.

You can remove it by again pressing “Start a Group” option.

You can permanently delete a “Toolbar” by selecting it in the “Toolbars” tab of the dialog, and clicking “Delete”.

You can not remove the default “Toolbars” in Access.  What you can do is adjust it to your needs.
If you accidentally delete buttons on a standard toolbar, you can always click the “Reset” button, and the original toolbar buttons will be back.

To make “Popup” menus

Once you’ve created your own “Toolbars”, it might be nice to make these “Toolbars” as “Popup” menus.

To do this we first open the “Customize” dialog box.
So we click on “Tools” – “Customize” … in the toolbar.
Select the toolbar you created and choose “Properties”.
In the “Properties” dialog box, choose the type, “Popup”

And click Close.

Now, to apply this popup to a form, we open the form in “Design View”.

Select the “Form Selector” in the upper left corner of our form (you know that black square), and click on “View” – “Properties” in the toolbar.

In the “Properties” dialog box, choose the “Other” tab.

Choose Yes for “Shortcut Menu” property.

Then we click “Shortcut Menu Bar” on the field and choose our “Popup” that we have just created.

Close the dialog and open the form in “Form View”.

Now when you right click on the form we see our toolbar:

Now, in order to remove the “Popup” window when you no longer wish to use, we must first make a delete in our “Toolbar”, because we can not delete popups.

How does it work?

In the toolbar we choose “Tools” – “Customize”.

The toolbar that we have created is not in the list of toolbars.

We can find these under the “Shortcut Menus”.

Click the checkbox. This will display the “Shortcut Menus” toolbar in which we find our “Popup”.

To delete, select your toolbar, and click “Properties”.

The “Toolbar Properties” dialog box will appear.
Click on the dropdown menu for “Selected Toolbar” and select “Toolbar”.
Change the type back to “Toolbar”.

Click on “Close”.

Now we made our popup menu as a toolbar again so, we can remove it by clicking on “Tools” – “Customize” in the toolbar.

In the “Toolbars”, choose our tool bar and click “Delete”.

Awesome!
