Changed tab positions

Different tab pages are not new to Internet Explorer 9. The only thing that is new is their position.

In the previous version of IE they were displayed under the address bar (1), However in IE 9, the “new tab” appears next to the address bar.

If you wish to display it below the address bar, then right click an empty area next to the “New Tab” (2), and scroll down to the option “Show tabs in separate row” in the pop-up menu.

You have to repeat the same action if you wish to make additions to the address bar.

Open a new tab or new window

To create a new tab, click the “new tab” button, or click the shortcut “Ctrl + T” on your keyboard.

In case you want to open a new window, click the shortcut “Ctrl + N” on your keyboard.

When you open a new window, it opens the same web page in a new browser window.

On the other hand when you open a new tab it opens the new tab page in IE9.

The same also applies if you want to open mutiple websites at the same time(1).

You can open a new tab with a keyboard shortcut. Hold the Ctrl + T key while you click this link. If

you want to open in a new window, hold the Ctrl + N key while you click this link.

New tab page

By now you know how to open a new tab page in IE9. You just have to click on the “new tab” icon in the address bar (1).

The new tab page in IE9 shows your most visited websites and places them neatly in a row.

If you want to remove one of these from this page because you don’t want anyone to know about the sites you visited, all you have to do is move your mouse pointer over the icon of this site, and you click the X that appears in the upper right corner (2) .

The icon (3) of each site is shown on the new tab page so you can easily identify each site. This is useful when you choose from multiple sites.

A site indicator (4), the color bar under the icon indicates how frequently you have visited the site.

Your favorite sites are shown at the top based on the number of time you have visited it.

If you wish to hide all the websites on this page, then click the “Hide Sites” option(5).

Repeat this operation to re-open.

If you want to see other pages that contain related topics with your most visited website, then click the button “Discover other sites you might like” (6).

If you accidentaly close a tab and now you would like to open it again, click on the “Reopen Closed Tabs” button(7), and choose the site you want to open back in the list.

If you have a whole bunch of tabs you closed and then need to re-open again, click the button “Re-open Last session” (8).

And the last option on the page is the “InPrivate Browsing” (9).

This button was introduced in IE8. Your surfing habits generally leave traces in your browsing history and your search history, to prevent this you have to select the “Inprivate browsing” button.

But more on that later.

Setting Home Page

Before we continue with the tabs, you must learn how the IE9 Home page opens when you start surfing.

To set the homepage, click the “Tools” (1), and the pop-up menu that appears, click the button “Internet Options”.

In the dialog that appears, choose the “General” tab and type the web addresses of pages you want to see, when the browser starts.

You have the ability to open multiple pages. Just type in the different addresses, one after the other (2).

Awesome!
