A camera, a camcorder and other applications

Whether you import files from a camera, camcorder, or any other application, the method to import is the same for every application.

As an example, I import photos from a camera.

When you have taken pictures with your digital camera, and you have not already stored them on your computer, you can import directly into Live Movie Maker.
Although directly into Movie Maker is not correct.
You will always get to see them in Windows Live Photo Gallery.

We continue.
The first thing you do is connect the camera to the computer.
This opens the dialog “Auto Play” (1) that you should close by the cross (2) in the upper right corner of the window.
We will go to import pictures into movie maker, and not onto our computer.

This brings us back into Movie Maker.
Click the button “Movie Maker” (3) and choose “Import from device” in the drop-down menu.

After you’ve clicked, it displays a list of devices connected to your computer.
On top of this list we have, at least in my case, the printer / scanner that is installed on my computer, and below the other devices connected to your computer.
In this case it’s just my camera, they display it as “Removable Disk”.
Why he gives it as “Removable Disk” is for the simple reason that this is an unknown brand for him. When he recognizes the brand, he will also inform the Name.
But this is all unimportant. As long as we know where he can find it.
Thus, select the “Removable Disk (K :)” (1) and click the Import button (2).

In the next window that opens, we have two choices.
The first choice “items to import and sort”.
Choosing this option brings us to the next screen to import the pictures or videos taken with our camera.
The second option, “Import all new items”, allows us to import all new pictures and videos on your camera.

As an example I choose the first option.
In the window that appears you have some options.
Choose “Select All”, all the photos and videos are selected and imported when you click the “Import” button.
However, if you remove the checkmark for the text “Import All” (3), then you have multiple groups of photos from where you can select (2).
If you still wish to proceed with a selected group, click the group, and select the photos in this group that you wish to import (4).

For your information:
These groups are created automatically at the time they were taken. You can change the classification of these groups by clicking and dragging the scroll bar “Groups Adjustment” (A).
But again, this is purely informative.

Click the “Import” button when you’re done.

A window appears where you can follow the operation.
Select here the checkbox “Delete After Import Photos”, then the photos and videos you’ve imported will be removed from your camera.

Windows Live Photo Gallery will be opened as a standard, while a window where it asks you if you ever want to use Windows Live Gallery to the file types JPG, TIF, etc. to open it.
Select “Yes” if you wish, “No” when you do not want.
I do not like something else to decide for me when I need to open certain files, so I choose “No”, and also directly select the box that it no longer needs to ask this question.

Windows Live Photo Gallery will open with all the imported photos.
The only thing you have to do, is to drag the files from Windows Live Photo Gallery to Windows Live Movie Maker.
