Adjusting the display

The view of the workspace can be a number of ways.
Place and move the mouse pointer between the storyboard and the preview window, and by clicking and dragging the mouse pointer when it changes into a double arrow (A), we can customize size of the different parts.
Move your mouse over a file in the storyboard (B), a window appears containing the different properties of this file. For example, the filename, display duration, possible transitions, and the preset effects. But more on that later.

FYI

A standard image file is always provided with a playback time of 7 seconds, a movie file with the time course of the film. we can modify all of these.
More on this later in this course.

At the bottom of the application we have a slider (1) that will adjust the size of the time scale change, and the button “Change Thumbnail Size” (2).
The first gives an image a longer or shorter time on the time scale (3), which is useful when you perform operations or apply effects, the second gives a larger or smaller image of the thumbnails in the storyboard.

FYI!

When you start a new project by clicking on the “Movie Maker” (2), and selecting “New Project” in the drop-down menu, then the last project is considered completed, and you will also be asked if you wish to save this project.

Shifting of files

The playback order of the files which will make a movie is determined by the position of those in the storyboard.

To change the playback order, click and drag the file into the storyboard to the position you want (1).
Release the mouse button when the desired position is reached.
Movie maker will place the file where the vertical bar appears (2).

FYI!

  1. The file that is selected in the storyboard, is always displayed in the preview window.
  2. A file that you add later in the project is still behind the currently selected file. You can of course move to the position you want.
  3. If your project has dozens of files, and you no longer see a file and want to move the file to a certain location, click and drag to move the file to the edge (3) of the storyboard. This will set the content of the storyboard to scroll up or down.
Or if you want it a little quicker, right click the file smoothly, you choose “Cut” from the pop-up menu, scroll all the way up with the scrollbar, right click the position where you want to put this, and choose ” Paste “from the popup menu.
