The “To-Do Bar”

The new task bar in Outlook 2007 brings together our tasks, emails, les05_image01_en
appointments and calendar information in one place.

The Task Bar consists of four parts.
You have the Date Navigator (1) at the top, below you have the appointments section (2), below that you have the add section(3) and then you have the task list (4).

You can show or hide each section by right clicking on the title bar at the top of the taskbar. This opens a drop-down menu where you can uncheck the options.

Part three and four belong together in the task list. But I think you already know that.

Integrated task list

New in Outlook 2007 is the integrated task list in the Calendar section.
At least for the “Day” and “Week” views.

To add a task to your calendar, just click and drag from the Tasks window into the calendar window.
If the task is completed, click the icon with the red flag, this will indicate that the task is completed.

“RSS Feeds”

What are RSS feeds?
RSS feeds automatically notify the visitors of a particular website any new information that is published. News websites which include the Standard and the Latest News, make frequent use of this.

With Outlook 2007, we no longer have to visit the various websites to receive the latest information about the topics that we are interested in. We have the ability to receive this information via the “RSS feeds”.

To add an RSS feed (or simply Feeds) right click on “RSS Feeda” in the navigation pane, and select “Add New RSS Feed …”.

In the dialog that appears, type the address of the les05_image06_en
RSS-feed, and click the “Add” button.

The easiest thing you can do is to surf for the web page, copy the address from the address bar of your browser and paste it in this dialog.

If you are registered to any RSS channels, they will appear under the “RSS feeds” folder.
To see this, click the plus sign to the left of the “RSS feeds” folder.

Select the channel you want to open. All messages are displayed in the message list just like a received email.

To read the message, select the RSS message in the list, a brief description of the item is displayed in the viewing pane.
If you want to read the full article click the button “View Article”. This will open the browser page where the article was published.
