Text

If you want to add text to an image, click the “Add Text” button in the edit view.

Click the mouse pointer in the picture where you want to add text. Do not panic, you can always move this text.

Once you have clicked, you can start typing.

You can set the options on the left of the text editing window before you start typing or after you have already typed the text. It does not matter.

You can change the text and formatting of the text in your photo at any time, by selecting it and making changes.

The “Settings” tab

Under the “settings” tab in edit view, we have a number of advanced options for carry out exposure and color corrections.

The first slider, makes only the dark parts of the picture brighter.

The second slider, makes the whole picture lighter.

The third slider will turn the whole picture darker.

You can undo your changes any time by pressing the “Undo” button.

If you do not wish to play with these bars, click the button “One-click fix for lighting” (1), or the “one-click fix for color” (2) and Picasa does all the work for you.

Whether it does well, I leave that opinion to you.

The “Effects” tab

Under the “Effects” tab, we find 12 different effects that we can apply to a photo.

You can apply a single effect to a picture or you can also apply multiple effects to a photo.

In this example, I try a photo taken last year during the peace celebrations at St-Niklaas Market, a picture from the silent years. For those who do not know, the silent years are about 50 years back in time.

OK, the first effect that I want to apply is the B/W effect, so black/white.

The second effect that I want to apply is the “Warmify” effect.

Then I click the “Sepia” effect.

Then the “Grain” effect.

Then five times the “Sepia” effect.

And three times the “Grain” effect.

This gives the following result:

Would you dare to wager any money that this photo was taken shortly after the war?

Awesome!
