Stacks

In order to group related photos we use the “Stacks”.The first thing you do when you want to group photos is to select the photos.

Then click “Stacks” in the menu bar and select “Group As Stack” in the drop-down menu.

This places the individual photos stacked neatly in the “Content” panel (1).

The number of pictures in this stack is displayed in the upper left corner (2).

When you click, the stack unfolds, and you can see all photos in this stack.

To delete a picture from a stack, open the stack and then click and drag this picture to the desired position.

To reposition an entire stack, keeping all its pictures, hold the Alt key on your keyboard pressed while you drag the stack to itsnew position. Release the mouse button and then the Alt key.

Rename Batch

One can give a name to a file by clicking on the name and typing the new name. The extension is retained.

But you can also rename multiple files. This is done by first selecting the files, use the shift key if they adjacent files, use the Ctrl key if they are not adjacent.

Once the files are selected, click the downward pointing arrow next to the “Refine” button in the toolbar and select “Batch Rename”.

This opens the dialog “batch rename”.

Here we have a few options.

The first three in the “Destination” (1) seem obvious.

In the section “New file names (2), we determine the new names for our photos. You can add lines by clicking the plus sign, you can delete lines by clicking the minus sign.

What I need is a significant text, followed by a dash, followed by a sequence of three digits.

When I click the “Save” button, I see that all the selected photos are given a new name with a serial number.
