Photoshop - CS4

Lesson 14: The Bridge (1)

14/84 Lessons

What is the “Bridge”?

The Bridge is a stand-alone application that comes free with the Photoshop program with which we can search, organize, view, delete our files and I do not know what else. So why not use it, even more, why not use it efficienciently?

To open Bridge, click the Bridge button in the menu bar when Photoshop is open or when it is not open, from the Start menu of Windows.

If it is the first time you are using Bridge, you will more than likely view everything on your desktop in the “Content” section of Bridge.

Click the Folder tab (top left of the window) and navigate to the folder where your photos are stored on your harddisk.

An image is displayed of all files stored in this folder:

Preferences

The first thing I do is a few personal preferences.

If you like the current settings, you can skip this part and proceed to the next lesson.

To change the preferences, click the “Edit” button in the menu bar and select “Preferences” from the drop-down menu.

In the “General” tab I change the brightness of the background color to a slightly dark color (1), the image reduction to a little less dark color (2) and the accent color to a fairly striking color (3).

In the “Thumbnails” tab, I select the information that I want to see in the pictures. In my case the dimensions in inches, the size (this is in KB) of the photo, the keywords, and the label of the picture.

This gives the following picture as a result:
1.    the background is darkened so I get more contrast between the pictures and application.

2.    the color of the selected picture is a little less dark.

3.    the accent color of the selected is “Ruby”.

4.    and information about the image that I want, is under the thumbnail.

These are purely personal preferences, you do what you want to do.

Awesome!
