Insert Journal entries manually

We can also manually add items to our journal.
When the journal folder is opened, we can simply record the document that we want to, by clicking and dragging to our journal. At that time, Outlook will create an entry for that document.
The item can be any file on our computer, as long as we can open it.

We can also add e-mail, for example, from the Inbox folder to our journal.
This, opens the Inbox folder, and we can click and drag the email into the “jornal” folder.

Another way to create a Journal Entry is to , click on “File” – “New” – “Journal Entry” in the menu bar.
This gives us a blank “Journal Entry”.

les12_image05_enI think by now it is clear what kind of things can be completed and where, so I’m not explaining further on it.
So, enter the information that you wish to include, and click the “Save and Close” button.

Open a Journal Entry

When we have set the Journal Option (see previous lesson), we determine what happens when we remove an item from our journal.
When you want to open “The journal entry”, just double-click the item to open it.
However, if you have chosen the second option “open the item referred to in the jornal entry”, then right click the item, and select “Open” from the pop-up menu.
Once the item is opened, we can change or edit it.
When we edit an item, this will in no way affect any associated documents.
If you have removed an item from the jornal, the associated document is not deleted from your computer.
If you have removed an associated document from your computer, then the item is not removed from your journal.

Opening a Document Journal

When you’ve selected the Journal option “Opens the item referred to by the journal entry “, you just double-click the item in thejournal to open the documents.
However, if you have chosen “Opens the journal entry”, first open your journal entry, then select the associated document and right click and choose “open the item referred to.”

To delete a journal item, select the item, and select “Edit Delete” in the menu bar, or click the “Delete” button on your keyboard.
You can also delete multiple items by first selecting using your Shift key or Ctrl key on your keyboard and selecting other.
If you want to delete an entire group (item associated documents), right click the grey header, and select “Delete” from the pop-up menu.
Outlook will warn you that this action is applied to all items in this group:
