Installing “Joomla” (2)

In the next window, we need to enter some basic settings.
In the top box we select the type of database. It is likely this has already been entered correctly, because it is generally a “MySql” database.
If you are using a different type you can select it by clicking on the arrow which opens up the drop down menu.
In the second box, enter the name of the Host. This is usually “localhost”, because, in most cases, the database is installed on the same server where “Joomla” is installed.
In the boxes ‘User’, ‘Password’ and ‘Database Name’, enter the information you received from your host, or if you have created it yourself, then you will know what you need to enter here. I cannot tell you this, because it is different for everyone.
If everything is entered, click “Next”.
If the entered data is not completed properly, “Joomla” will give you a warning, and you must do your best to contact your Host, in order to get the requested data.

In the next window, we set the FTP configuration. This is necessary for “Joomla” to allow access to your server.
So select the “Yes” option and enter your user name, password and the FTP root path.
If you do not know the root path , click on the “Auto Search FTP path” button. If this also does not work, ask your host for the required data.
Click “Next”.

In the next window, you must specify some information about the website.
In the first section (1) you must specify a name for the site.
I’m going to create a site about “Bonzai” trees, so “Bonzai” seems quite appropriate.

In the second section (2) we enter the e-mail address and password for the administrator.
He is the only one who can access the backend of the site. Do you remember?? I mentioned it in the Previous lesson.
You must remember the password you enter, because you will need it when you want to make changes to the site.

And in the third section (3) of the window, we can have sample data for a “Joomla” site, installed on the server. This will download “Joomla”-examples, where a number of categories and sections are already created.
I did not did this as because I want to start with a blank database. There’s no problem if you want to do this, you just have to click the “Install sample data” button.

Click on the “Next” button.

If you have not installed the sample data, you will get a message offering you one last chance to download this.

I do not want to do so, so I click OK to continue.

In the last window we get the message that “Joomla” is installed successfully, and that the “Installation” directory is to be removed from the server (1).
To remove this, you have to re-start the FTP program that placed all your “Joomla” files on the server.
You have to now navigate to the place in the server, where you’ve uploaded all these files, and then delete the “Installation” folder with all its contents (2).
When the “Installation” folder is deleted from the server, click on the “Site” button(3).

Awesome!
