Adding a hyperlink

To add a “Hyperlink” to text or an image select the text or image, and click on the “Insert Hyperlink” button on the “Web tools toolbar”.

This opens the “Insert” dialog box.
In this example, I’m adding an e-mail link. So, I click on the “Email Address” button, on the left portion of the dialog box.
In the first text box, I enter the email address. Automatically, the prefix “mail-to:”, is added.
In the second box, I enter a subject for the e-mail.
In the last text box, your recently used e-mail addresses will be displayed, if they exist.
Click the OK button.

You’ll see that in your page, this text now appears as a hyperlink.
If you click on the “Preview Web Page” button found on the “Web tools toolbar” you can see the page in your Browser’s Window(this is the second button in the “Web tools toolbar”).

Adding HotSpots

Just as in Dreamweaver, we can insert one or more “HotSpots” in “Publisher”.
For those of you do not know what a “HotSpot” is, it is a link that is “drawn” on a map.

As you see, in the image below, I have added the map of East Flanders on a page.
To add a “HotSpot”, select that option from the “Web tools toolbar” and click and drag it over the area, you want marked as “HotSpot”.

When you release the mouse pointer, the “Insert hyperlink” dialog box is opened.
In this example, I want a link to the site of St. Nicholas, which is my hometown, so I select the “Existing File or Web Page” option in the left portion of the dialog box.
I specify the address in the bottom line, and click OK.

If you’re creating a link to another page, navigate to the page, in the dialog box, and click on it.

Converting to website

In “Publisher”, we have an easy way to create a publication that can be converted to a print publication for the web.
First open the publication, click on “File” in the “Menu bar” and select “Convert to Web Publication” from the drop-down menu.

In the first window of the “Convert to Web Publication” wizard we have two options. Both seem quite obvious to me.
Click the “Next” button.

In the second window of the wizard, you select whether or not you want to add a “Navigation bar”.
If you select the option, Publisher will add a navigation bar on every page.
You should still place it correctly, on each page.
Click the “Finish” button when you’ve made your choice.

If you want to convert a publication for the web, to a publication to print, click on “File” in the “Menu bar” and select the “Convert to print publication” option from the drop-down menu.
