Rectangle

I continue the description of how to draw a “Rectangle”.
I first click the “Rectangle” button in the “Object toolbar”, drag it to the publication and place it at the required position, or atleast, at the approximate position.

I click on the “Fill Color” button in the “Formatting toolbar”, and select the “Fill Effects” option again.
I select color 1 as golden yellow, and color 2 as a slightly darker shade of the same color.
I then click OK.
If you prefer a “solid” color you can select the “More fill colors” option from the drop-down menu, and make a choice in the dialog box that appears. I have a suspicion that you knew this.

Grouping

Now that we have two objects in our publication, we can make them a group.
This is useful when the grouped objects are edited as one object.
For example, they can be moved, or rotated, or resized.

To group several objects, click on the “Select Object” button in the “Object toolbar”.
Select all the objects you want to group.
This is done by clicking on them, one by one, while keeping the Shift key on your keyboard pressed, or by clicking on the publication, and dragging the mouse pointer around all the objects that are to be selected.
When several objects are selected, the “Grouping” icon will automatically be displayed.
Click on this, to group all objects.

If you want to remove the group, select the group, and click this icon again.

Layers

Next I draw a circle on both objects.
I set the fill color to “White”, and I select the “No line color” option. I then click on both the arrows pointing downward beside the button, and select these options from the drop-down menu.

Supposing, I drew my circle first, and then the rectangle, and if the rectangle is located above the circle, then this circle wouldn’t be visible.
You don’t need to panic. Just right-click the circle, select “Order” and click “Bring Forward”.
If you still can’t see the circle, right-click the rectangle, select “Order” and click “Send Backward”.
This is possible becuse of a concept called layers, wherein each object has its own layer and a grouped object has a single layer.

The difference between the options “Send Backward” and “Send to Back” is that the option “Send Backward” sends the object back by one layer, and the option “Send to Back” sends the object back to the last layer, which, in this case, would be, sending the rectangle behind the gray oval.

Next I copy the circle by selecting it and the pressing the Ctrl+C keys, on my keyboard. I paste it by pressing Ctrl+ V.
Of course, you can drag the circle to the required place.

Then I add my logo.
I know that this is in the “Business information set”, and “Publisher” should be smart enough to know what I want.
From the “Format Publication” panel, I select “Page Options”, and my logo is found here.
When I click on this, publisher will insert the logo into the publication.
I drag it to the required place, and I copy and paste this, because I want to repeat the same procedure.

If your logo is not entered in the “Company information”, click on the “Insert” tab in the “Menu bar”, select “Image” and click “From File”.
Navigate to the file from where you want to retrieve the image, and click on the “Insert” button.

Finally I add a text box, choose a font and font size, and type my text.
I format it by using the “Font Color” option in the “Formatting toolbar”.
To do this, I need to select the text, or part of the text, click on “Text Color” and select a color.

Awesome!
