Bullets and Numbering

Bullets and numbering is a useful tool for grouping of related issues, thereby creating a clear list.

We have several options in Word to use bulleted lists and numbered lists.

To provide Bullets for a given text:

  • first select the paragraphs
  • click on the Format (format) button in the Toolbar
  • or click on the selection with the RIGHT mouse button.
  • choose ‘Bullets and Numbering’ (Bullets and Numbering)
  • make a choice and press OK

You can also click on “Bullets and Numbering’ In this option you will always have the last used Bullets or Numbering list that is active.

To create a numbered list:

  • First select the paragraphs
  • Click the Format button on the menu bar or click on the selection button with the RIGHT mouse button
  • Click on the “Bullets and Numbering” button 
  • Make a choice and press OK

You can also use the “Numbering” button that appears in the Formatting Toolbar.

To format a paragraph where the numbers are skipped in a numbered list, select the paragraph and press the  “Numbering” button in the formatting toolbar

To add a paragraph to a numbered list, place the cursor between the two paragraphs and press ‘Enter’

Numbering at multiple levels:

  • First set different levels with the ‘Increase Indent’ option
  • select the entire list that you want numbered.
  • click with the RIGHT mouse button on the selected area
  • choose the command “Bullets and Numbering”
  • Choose the ‘Ouline Numbered’  tab
  • make a choice
  • click OK
