Printing with templates

If you have one or more photos to be printed several times on a page, you can use templates.

Open the photo(s) you want to print.

Do not forget to use the size of the photos (see previous lesson).

Click “File” in the menu bar and select “Print Layout” in the drop-down menu.

This opens the “Print Layout” dialog.

At the top of the window we find the menu bar.
On the left side of the window we find the pictures that we opened in “PSP” earlier.

In the middle we have the standard layout of our printer paper.

One way to add pictures to this template is to click and drag them onto the sheet of paper.

You can add as many pictures as you like.
You can create multiple copies of a photo on the sheet of paper.
Once the photo is on the paper, you can move it to the position you want, by clicking and dragging it , and you can resize it by clicking and dragging the blocks on its edges.

A second and more efficient way to work with templates is to click the “Open Template” button in the menu bar.

This opens a dialog with several preset templates

On the left we have all the available categories (1).

On the Right, we find sample templates (2) of the selected category.

Select a template, and you will get the description about it (3).

Click the “OK” button when you have made a selection.

This opens the template with the different cells.
Select the first cell in the sheet and it is highlighted in a a red color frame.
To add a picture to a cell, double click it in the list, or drag it to the cell.
If you want to add more pictures to the list click the button, “Open an Image” in the menu bar, navigate to the photo(s), and click the “Open” button.

I will not discuss the rest of the buttons in the menu bar as they are very easy to understand.

If you want to resize the picture in the cell you can click and drag the blocks on the edges. The part of the picture that is located in the cell will only be displayed (1).

To print the photos click the “Print” button in the menu bar.

In order to close the print preview, click the button “Close Print preview”.
When you close this PSP will ask if you want to save the template.
Once you answer, the print output will be closed, and you will be back in PSP.

Mailing Photos

Another way to share our photos with others is by emailing them.
The first method to do this is by clicking the  “Learning Center” Palette. Select the “Print and Share” option by clicking on the “Email” tab.
A second and quicker way is the “Share via e-mail” button in the palette “Organizer”.
In the dialog that appears you can select the photo(s) that are to be mailed as embedded images or Attachments.
