Adjustment “‘Layers”

Adjustment layers are correction layers that adjust the color or tone of underlying layers without adjusting the pixels of those layers, directly.
In “Paint Shop Pro” we have the following adjustment layers:

  • Brightness / Contrast
  • Channel Mixer
  • Color Balance
  • Curves
  • Hue / saturation / brightness
  • Reverse
  • Levels
  • Limited number of levels
  • Threshold

The commands that perform the various adjustment layers, correspond exactly to the same commands that you find under the “Adjust” button in the menu bar.
They have one major advantage: you will not have to change the actual image layer, but instead you can add one or more adjustment layers.

You will always have the original layer, whatever optioon you use, but without adjustment layers it is not possible to undo the first while saving the second.

As you see, in the example below, I have made two color corrections using adjustment layers. This way I can disable the color correction anytime, or even delete it.
If we use the same color corrections with the options under the “Adjust” menu, then we have these advantages. Then we can just click the “Undo” color corrections option and delete the corrections I had made.

You create a new adjustment layer by clicking the “Layers” option in the menu bar. Select “New Adjustment Layer” in the drop-down menu, and you can select from different adjustment layers.
Or, just click the “New layer” button at the the top of the palette “Layers”, and select “New Adjustment Layer” in the drop-down menu.

“Watermarking”

Another new feature in “PSP X2” is watermarks.
If you’re a professional photographer or just want to share photos on the Internet, it is good to add a brand to your photo to capture the viewers attention.

To add a watermark, click the “Image” tab in the menu bar, select the “Watermarking” option in the drop-down menu, and click “Visible watermark” in the list.
This opens the “Visible Watermark” dialog.
Click the “Browse” button (1) and navigate to the file you want as your watermark.
The file appears in the preview area of the “Watermark source” (A).

Select a placement option in the “Placement” section (2). These options seem quite clear.
We have a graphic element in the “Style” section (3). These options also seem quite clear.
Click the OK button (4) when you are satisfied.

Awesome!
