“Printing”

Before you start printing your photos, you must first know the image resolution (this is measured in pixels per inch (ppi)), and your printer resolution (this is measured in dots per inch (dpi)).

It is best to consider the resolution of the printer when you select a resolution of the image.

To give you some guidelines of Paint Shop Pro:

  • Use an image with a resolution of 72 to 120 ppi for a 300 dpi printer.
  • Use an image with a resolution of 125 to 170 ppi for a 600 dpi printer.
  • Use an image with a resolution of 150 to 200 ppi for a 1200 dpi printer.

To change the resolution of your image first open the image. Click “Image” in the menu bar and select “Resize” in the drop-down menu.
In the dialog box enter the ppi for your photos in “New”, and the “Resolution” based on the dpi of your printer.
Depending on the ppi entered the “Width” and “Height” will be adjusted automatically.
As long as the values of the ppi of the image and the value of the dpi of the printer do not exceed each other, we can use this option.

Click the “OK” button when settings are complete.

Now, to print, we have a number of options. We can print a single photo or multiple photos.

In the first example I’m going to print a photo.

Click “File” in the menu bar and select “Print”. Another way is to open “Learning Center”, click on “Print and Share” and select “Print one photo”.

In both cases, this opens the following dialog where we have three tabs: “Placement”, “Options” and “Template”.
If you have multiple Printers click the “Printer” at the top of the dialog.

Under the “Placement” tab we have some options.
Enter the value in “Copies” if you want to print a number of copies.
In addition, in the “Orientation” we can select Portrait or Landscape. (You can this see on the right side).
Below that we have the “Size and position” of the photo on the cover page.

If you change the scale the quality of the print will be effected.
Right now, we also have the option of fitting pictures on the page, which in this case the scale of the photo will be enlarged, which then results in a poorer quality.

If you want to shift the image, select the “Left Offset” and “Top Offset” options.

Under the “Options” tab we can select “Print Output” and “Color Options” which seem clear to me. The option “Print Marks” is used to cut out the picture.

And under the “Template” tab we have the option to print the picture on a template. I will tell elaborate on this in the next lesson.

Click the “Print” button when you have finished specifying your settings.

Awesome!
