The “Pen Tool” (1)

In this lesson I will explain how the pen tool works in PSP. In fact, I’m going to make a selection using the “Pen tool” with an alpha channel.

The first thing you have to do after opening the photo, is to select the “Pen tool” from the toolbar (1).
Then select the “Draw point to point -(Bezier curves)” tool in the options bar (2) and get the background color to transparent by clicking the appropriate button (3).
Then click in the picture where you want to begin the line, and drag the cursor in the direction the line should follow (4). This lets us determine the control lines of the drawing point.

In the Image, click the second character point and then drag the line till you get the control line i.e the correct form of the line is reached. In this case, therefore, drag it till the edge of the lower rim.

As we draw the next line on a different side, which is up and not to the right, we have the character type of the last character point that we want to change in the cusp.
Right click above the drawing point, select “Node Type” from the drop-down menu and click
“Cusp” (1).
This will allow you to point the control line upwards (2).

If you want to change the direction of the control line for the next drawing point, do not forget to get the control point to a cusp.
Repeat these steps until you’re almost back at the first drawing point.

The last drawing point, is placed as close to the first drawing point as possible and then drag the line to get the correct shape of the line.
Then we zoom in on the image, and we place the last drawing point before the first drawing point.
When the cursor in the text “connect” is displayed, release the mouse button.

We now have a full vector line around the drawn cup.
We will continue this in the next lesson.

Awesome!
