Lesson 20: AutoFormat

20/66 Lessons

AutoFormat As You Type

The “AutoFormat As You Type” option, does what it says. It Auto formats the typed text, as soon as you type it.

For example, lets say, you type a 1, a dot, followed by a space.

AutoFormat will consider this as a numbered list. Note that the number 1 is no longer is at the far left of the document, but that it is provided with an indent, and that your cursor is now further away from the 1.

We also have the “AutoCorrect Options” (1) button.

When we click this we have three options.

The first option allows us to undo the automatic numbering.

In the second option, we can disable the creation of automatic numbered lists.

When we click on the third option, the “AutoCorrect” dialog box opens, in which the “AutoFormat As You Type” tab is selected.

Changing the AutoFormat:

The same dialog box, can be accessed by clicking on the “Options” button in the backstage view.

Select the “Proofing” category and click the “Autocorrect options” button.

We can turn off or on all the options in this tab by clicking on them. This seems to be quite clear and needs no further explanation.

Click OK at the bottom of the dialog box, if all of your options are set.

Awesome!
