Lesson 23: Building Blocks (2)

23/66 Lessons

Changing modules:

Sometimes it may be necessary to change a building block.

Well to be honest, we cannot change, a previously created module.

What we can do is make adjustments and save the module under the same name.

Add the first building block to your document. Make the changes, and select everything.

Save this under the same name, in the same gallery, under the same category, in the same folder, and with the same options.

When you do so, you get the following message

Click the Yes button if you’re satisfied.

Removing Modules:

We use the “Building Blocks Organizer …” to remove blocks.
Select the “Insert” tab on the ribbon.
Click the “Quick Parts” button and select the “Building Blocks Organizer …” option.

This opens the “Building Blocks Organizer” dialog box, where all devices that are present in our application are listed.
Select an option from the list, and on the right of the dialog box you will see a preview.

By clicking on the various column headings we can sort these building blocks by Name, Gallery, Category etc.

Select the module that is to be deleted from the list.

Then click the “Delete” button.
Click “Yes” when prompted for confirmation.

If you click the “Edit Properties …” button, you can modify the properties of the building block, in the module itself.

When the properties of a module have been edited, a pop-up window will appear asking you whether you want to save these changes.

By clicking on the “Insert” button, you can add the selected building block to your document.

Click the “Close” button when you’re done.

FYI

What I really should say is that for every “Cover page building block” a header and footer module is appropriate.

The example shown below uses the cover page building block “Tiles”, and for the header and footer, the building block that is used is “Tiles”.

What else should I say?

When a building block, has been added to your document, which is a tile in this case, you can change its formatting with the help of the options under the “Format” tab.  In the following case I changed the red and green tones to blue tones.

Save this module, and if you want to know how to do it you can go through the last lesson again. You can still use them later because they have been added to the gallery that you have chosen, in this case the gallery “Covers”
