The “Tool” Box

In the toolbox, or tool bar, whatever you call it, we find all the tools, that we can use to edit an image (a).
Depending on the selected tool, we find a number of options (b) at the bottom of this window.
This tool options can be taken from the Toolbox.
Move the mouse pointer above the upper portion of the window and the bottom of the window, when it changes into a “hand”, click and drag this window to select the desired position (c).

If you have the option window detached from the tool window, you can replace this by clicking and dragging it down to the toolbox (d).

If you select another tool in the tool bar, then obviously change the options in the options window. Whether this is disconnected or not, it doesn’t matter.

I’ll discuss about all these tools once we have started the course.

By clicking on the “Configure” button (e) we can see the composition of the option pane. So eg: you can add tabs or close them.

The Layers panel, Channels …

The “Layers, Channels, Paths, Undo, Brushes, Patterns, Gradients” consists of two parts (A and B), each of which, in turn, consist of several dialog boxes (C).

So you have “Layers” (1), “Channels” (2), “Paths” (3) and “Undo history” (4) in the upper part of the dialog box.
And in the lower part of the dialog box you have “Brushes” (5), “Patterns” (6) and “Gradients” (7).

All these dialog boxes will be discussed in detail when we start editing images, and I have already told you that these dialog boxes can also be accessed independently from the “Layers, Channels, Paths, Undo, Brushes, Patterns, Gradients” window.
You can also add dialogs and / or remove the buttons with the help of the “Configure Tab” button (D).

This is done in exactly the same way, as was discussed in the previous portion of this lesson, in the case of accessing the options independently.
Just click and drag the tab.

All dialog boxes have a menu bar at the bottom (e) but the number of options displayed, depends on the dialog box that has been selected.
These are dealt with, in the forthcoming lessons.

Awesome!
