Red Eye Removal

Most photo editing programs do have an option to remove the red eye.
Unless you have a plug-in installed, GIMP does not have this option.

So we need to find another solution.

I’ll explain how to do this.

Open the photo and zoom in on the red eye (1).
Then select the Ellipse Select tool (2), and draw a selection around the red pupil of the eye (3).

Click the “Color” button in the menu bar of the window, and select “Levels” in the drop-down menu.
In the “Levels” that appear, select the “Red” channel (4), and isolate the red from the selection.
Then, drag the right triangle in the scrollbar to the left (5).
Click the OK button and the red eye is gone (6).

Automatically adjusting colors

In GIMP, we have ways to automaticcaly adjust the colors in our picture.
I’m certainly not showing you how to use all the options, becasue it is different for each photo, but I still want to tell you that there are some possibilities.
As an example I will use the automatic color adjustment, “Smooth”.
Just click the “Colours” button in the menu bar.
Select “Auto” in the drop-down menu, and click “Equalize”.
I think the difference in the picture is clear.
The “Equalize” will try to evenly distribute the colors in your photo.

The “WB” will try to eliminate the infrequently-used colors in your picture and bring out the more lighter and darker colors.
The “Color Enhance” option will optimize the saturation in photographs and works, of course, only in color photos.

Awesome!
