Office 2007 - PowerPoint

Lesson 15: AutoFormat

“AutoFormat As You Type”

The “AutoFormat As You Type” option, does what it says i.e, it checks the typed text as soon as you type it.
For example, type a 1 plus a dot, followed by a space and click “Enter”.
“AutoFormat” will consider this as a numbered list.
Note that when there are more white spaces between the dot and the first letter of the word, they can be seen when the ruler is visible.
Click the “View” tab and select the “Ruler” checkbox.
You will see that the “Hanging indent” is currently near 2, where it normally would be at 0.

The ruler in PowerPoint also offers almost the same options, as the ruler in “Word” 2007. If you wish to know more about this please go through Lesson 15 of “Word” 2007 course.

When we enter more text into a “Placeholder box”, the text size adapts to the size of the box. I have told you that before.
If this is the case, the “AutoFitOptions” button is placed next to the “Placeholder box”.
When we click this, we have 3 options.
The first option is the default option, and the size of the text fits the size of the box.
The second option will disable the “AutoFormat” function and the text is displayed in its original size.
The third option opens the “AutoCorrect” dialog box in which the “AutoFormat As You Type” tab is selected.
This tab gives us all the predefined “AutoFormat” options.

Changing “AutoFormat” Options:

The same dialog box can be accessed by clicking the “Office” button and selecting “PowerPoint Options”.

Select the “Proofing” tab, click on the “AutoCorrect Options …” button and then click the “AutoFormat As You Type” tab.

All options in this tab can be turned on or off by clicking on them, and they seem quite clear to me needing no further explanation.

Click OK at the bottom of the dialog box if all the required options are set.

Awesome!
