Lesson 44: Copy Formatting

Copy formattting

If you want a new slide layout, you do not have to start from nothing.
You can copy a slide layout, then edit it.
First open your presentation in “Slide Master” view.
Right-click the slide layout that you wish to copy, and select “Duplicate Entry” from the drop-down menu.
This places the copied slide layout just beneath the original slide layout.
You can format this new layout to your liking, and rename it.

Multiple “Slide masters”

If your presentation uses different themes, you have the option of creating multiple slide masters.
Click on the “Insert Slide Master” button in the “Ribbon”, under the “Slide Master” tab.
The new master will be added below the first master.
Select the second slide master.
Click “Themes”.
And select a theme from the drop-down list.

Change the layout of the new slide master, and close the “Slide Master” view.
Now, when you click the “New Slide” button or the “Layout” button under “Home” tab, you will see that the second slide master is added to the drop-down list.

Removing a “Slide Master”
To remove a “Slide master”, select the “Slide master” in the “Slide Master” view and click the “Delete” button in the “Ribbon”.

When you remove a slide master that was used in slides in the presentation, “PowerPoint” will select another master for these slides.
